These images were created in collaboration with Learn Your Way (LYW) Truro, a post 16-years education programme funded by Adult Education for young people who have an Education, Health, or Care Plan to prepare for working life.
Young women from Learn Your Way have worked with our Safer Streets Community Engagement Workers to think about safety on the streets of Truro when travelling to and from their course or when out and about in the city.
This virtual exhibition has been a collaborative piece of work with the young women acting as both subjects and editors.
The images, at sites across the city, have been identified by many women in our Safer Streets surveys as being places that have felt unsafe and threatening at different times of the day or night.
The young women were photographed alone or in pairs to capture the feelings of vulnerability felt by women but off camera we celebrated the camaraderie of women coming together to claim their space.
